Fitsum Assefa Adela is a competent economist and politician who has made significant contributions to Ethiopia's development. She has served as the Minister of Planning and Development since 2018.
She holds a Master's degree in Accounting and Development Studies from Addis Ababa University, and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Giessen, Germany. Prior to her ministerial appointment, she was a lecturer and researcher at Hawassa University for over ten years.
As Minister, she is responsible for overseeing the implementation of Ethiopia's long-term development plans. She has been a strong advocate for data-driven policymaking to ensure equality and opportunities for all citizens.
