H.E. Dr. Fitsum Assefa Holds Bilateral Meeting with UN-Habitat Regional Director for Africa

Addis Ababa June 17 2025 (MoPD) H.E. Dr. Fitsum Assefa, Minister of Planning and Development, held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Oumar Sylla, UN Habitat’s Regional Director for Africa. The discussion focused on avenues to deepen the longstanding partnership between Ethiopia and UN Habitat, with particular emphasis on advancing collaborative efforts in the areas of spatial planning, urban resilience, sustainable housing, and urban prosperity. The two sides also explored synergies around the upcoming Second African Climate Summit (ACS2), which Ethiopia will host in September 2025. Both parties expressed a strong commitment to strengthening their partnership and aligning efforts to support inclusive, climate resilient urban development.
